Victory Equine Centre is the riding facility we opened in April 2009 on the grounds of Cedar Ridge Farm in Frederick, Maryland.  Classes are led by instructors Cathy Solan, and James Blehr.  Click on the Instructors tab to meet them. Classes are offered in balanced seat riding, all levels of dressage and hunter/jumper, cross-country, and Western.  Students belong to Victory Riding Club and enjoy the benefits of social interaction, horsemanship clinics, learning and FUN.  See photos in the gallery.    Also, if you want to ride more often, but are NOT ready for the responsibility of horse ownership, check out our Leasing Program, below.  Click on the Client Services link to find out more.

Scroll down to Boomer Buddies to find out about weekday morning classes for the Over-40 crowd.  If you missed out on summer riding camp or plan to buy your first horse, you may enjoy our new 1Horsepower "day camp" for adults. It's offered the third Friday of the month, July-September.

**1HORSEPOWER:   HORSE "DAY CAMP" FOR ADULTS

We've had requests for  summer day camp for adults who perhaps didn't get to go to camp when they were children or who want to buy their first horse and don't know
how to go about buying or caring for a horse.  Day camps are offered the third Friday of the month, July-September, with different agendas and special bonus features.

Our August 20 session was filled with information on buying a horse, grooming and tacking your assigned horse,  horse care, stall cleaning, two riding lessons
(full day camp), basic horse training, and equine studies. Lunch, coffee, tea, water, and snacks were available all day.  As a bonus, Getting Fit to Ride exercise class,
taught by Cathy Solan, was offered in the morning session.

The next camp is Friday, September 17, and will feature two riding lessons, equine specialists,  more equine studies including how horses learn, among others.  Camp is $165
for full day, 9-4, with 3/4 hour for lunch, or  $95 for 1/2 day morning or afternoon.  Click here to register for 1HORSEPOWER camp for adults.

GETTING FIT TO RIDE

Improve your riding by improving your fitness. Using items found around the barn, as well as balls and free weights, build your fitness level through functional training to improve your strength, endurance, and balance.  Taught by Cathy Solan.  Click here to register for Getting Fit to Ride fitness classes.
  •   $30 per 1-hour session.  Bring your mat, wear suitable exercise apparel.

LEASING PROGRAM

Do you want to have a horse, but you are not ready for the entire responsibility of purchase price, boarding, farrier, and vet?  Consider a partial lease for only $150/month, which allows you to ride "your" horse in lessons and have one practice ride each week.  Additional practice rides depend on "your" horse's lesson schedule and whether the second lease is taken; cost is $20 each additional ride.

Practice rides are not supervised by instructors or other staff. Parents must accompany their children.  Rule #1: Never ride alone.  Leases are granted with instructor approval.

The following horses are available for two partial leases each,  at Victory Equine Centre only.  See photos in the gallery above or on the Sales Page.
